My daughter asked me to create a Nativity-themed Advent calendar for her. After trying out several designs and variations, I came up with this final version. This wooden Advent calendar features a layered Nativity scene, with each piece carefully cut and glued to create depth. Each layer is slightly higher than the one in front of it for two reasons: first, to ensure every layer is visible, and second, to position baby Jesus in the manger as the highest and central point.
The animals are placed at the edges of the stable, farthest from the manger, while the Wisemen stand a little closer, and Mary and Joseph are nearest to the manger. This arrangement draws the viewer's eye to Jesus in the center, making Him the focal point.
Each "stall" drawer holds a different animal and a Christmas activity (Watch a Christmas Movie, Wear Red, Drink Hot Chocolate, etc.) engraved on its base, adding a special touch to each day of Advent. Once you remove an animal, you can place it in the stable beside your Advent calendar, using the included stable fence.
